Reykjavik — 2012

As part of a month-long artist residency in Reykjavik Iceland, Charity led workshops, gave artist lectures, and conducted performances throughout the southern part of the island, working closely with local musicians and composers. Of significant note were collaborations with Ragnhildur Gísladóttir, and working with the composers collective Slátur as part of an off-Iceland Airwaves series. The residency was conducted in collaboration with the Hafnarhús Art Museum in Reykjavik.

Koumaria & Athens — 2012

Hosted by Medea Électronique, this residency took place in both Athens and Koumaria Greece. Over the course of 5-weeks, 10 artists and their group of 5 hosts worked collaboratively to develop interdisciplinary, site-specific projects, that were then presented at the
Onassis Centre in Athens.

Montréal — 2013

In residency with contemporary dance improviser Andrew Harwood and Yan Lee Chan (lighting designer), this project paired John Cage’s Music of Changes with semi-improvised movement. Utilising suspended bamboo poles, the performance foregrounded the notion of boundaries and cages (a play on the composer’s name), while calling into question the presumed rigidity in the composer’s approach to instilling distance in the interpretation and performance of work. The first presentation of the piece was at the Maison de la culture du Plateau-Mont-Royal.
